It has very eclectic decorations, but in a good way. It's worth stopping in just to see. They serve drinks and bagels that's it, and that's all they need. The food was really good and the owner speaks good English. You have to buy a drink but it's still very reasonably priced. I spent 1,800 yen for a bagel sandwich and a milk tea. If I lived in the area I would surely frequent it.

We were in the area and saw the sign saying Cafe AUSGANG - as German speakers we were intrigued so we went in! What a treat! Great vegan and vegetarian friendly bagels and great coffee! The interior is so intriguing as it was a night bar before and it’s inside an 100+ year old house! A must visit if you’re in the area

We visited Ausgang for breakfast and a peaceful spot to read, and it exceeded our expectations! Housed in a stunning building with original decor and stained glass windows, the cafe offers a charming atmosphere complemented by an excellent sound system playing ambient tunes. The menu is simple but perfect for mornings, featuring coffee, tea, and bagels. We tried the hummus and marinated mushroom bagel as well as the cream cheese and marinated mushroom bagel, paired with a coffee and a milk tea. The bagels were exceptional—some of the best I've ever had. Whatever they marinate the mushrooms in is absolutely delicious, and I particularly recommend the hummus and mushroom combination. The drinks were equally impressive, and the overall experience left us wishing we had stayed closer, so we could visit more often. If you're in Kyoto and looking for a tranquil space to enjoy a book or get some writing done, Ausgang should be at the top of your list!

Great experience! The owner was very nice and the food was great! The bagel was toasted crispy on the outside while remaining soft in the middle. It is a one drink per person minimum.

The inside is like a bed and breakfast with so much stained glass and gorgeous wood furniture. The bagels are delicious (I got the green onion cream cheese and mushroom) and the service was great. If I was in Kyoto longer I would certainly come back

Hidden gem in my view. Relaxed atmosphere and the place converted from a bar to a breakfast spot. The bagels are actually great - plain only - with some different fillings. I suggest to get bagel seasoning from Amazon that can be sprinkled on and would make the experience better. Keep up the good work.

Delicious crispy bagel with cream cheese and bacon *chef’s kiss* I also ordered a mango orange juice. Note: one drink order per individual minimum. Classic cafe vibe with comfy seating, low lighting, stained glass and low tech music. Almost feels like a teamLABS soundtrack.
